Sign Up & First Login

GridNMS Cloud is the fastest way to start — we host the app, so all you do is request access, sign in, and (next) connect a collector. This page covers creating your account and your first login.

1. Request access

GridNMS Cloud is currently early access.

1. Go to gridnms.io and select Join the beta.
2. Enter your name, work email, and organization, and choose Cloud (SaaS) as your deployment.
3. Verify your email with the code we send you.
4. We review requests and follow up by email — watch for your welcome email once your account is approved and ready to sign in to.

2. Sign in

1. Open your welcome email and follow its link to app.gridnms.io.
2. Enter the one-time setup code from the email, then choose your password.
3. From then on, sign in with your email and that password.

Add a passkey (recommended)

GridNMS supports passkeys (Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, or a security key) as a fast, phishing-resistant second sign-in step:

1. After logging in, open your profile (top-right avatar → Profile).
2. Under Add a new passkey, give it a name (for example, “MacBook Pro”), select Register, and follow your device’s prompt.
3. Next time you sign in with your email and password, you’ll be prompted for your passkey automatically — no separate button to find. If your passkey isn’t available, you can enter a recovery code instead — see Your Account for two-factor authentication and where recovery codes come from.

3. Invite your team

1. Go to Configure → Access Control → Users (admins only).
2. Add a teammate by email and assign them a role — roles control what each person can see and change (for example, full admin vs. read-only viewer).

Tip

Assign the least access each person needs. You can fine-tune what every role can do on the Roles tab of the same Access Control page.

4. Follow the Deployment Checklist

The fastest path to your first working monitoring is the Deployment Checklist — it appears on the dashboard the moment you sign in. It’s a guided, self-verifying path: each step links straight to the page that satisfies it, and ticks itself off only once GridNMS confirms it’s actually done — so you always know exactly what’s left. The same checklist runs on GridNMS Cloud and self-hosted.

Work top to bottom:

1. System configuration — timezone, time sync, email, and TLS (managed for you on Cloud).
2. Enable a notification — turn on at least one notification channel.
3. Apply a monitoring pack bundle — browse the vendor bundles, upload at least one, and apply it to a device class.
4. Add device credentials — give each device class its SNMP community/user (not the default public) or SSH credentials.
5. Enable Device Down alerting — the built-in Device Down detection ships disabled; enable it and its notification.
6. Enable Service Down alerting — enable it with notifications on, the same way.
7. Define your networks — the CIDR ranges GridNMS is allowed to monitor.
8. Connect a collector — bring a collector online and assign it your networks.
9. Discover devices — run a discovery scan, or add a device by hand.
10. Verify monitoring — confirm devices are polling and metrics are flowing.
11. Confirm events & logs — open the Events page to see what’s arriving.

Finish the list and you’ll have a fully monitored network with alerting, in one sitting. You can dismiss the checklist any time and reopen it from the dashboard.
